Walsall Together is a partnership of health, local authority, housing, voluntary and community organisations working together to improve physical and mental health outcomes, promote wellbeing and increase health equity across the borough.
The Walsall Together Strategy sets out how we intend to improve the health, care and wellbeing of all people who live in Walsall over the next three years. It reaffirms and enhances the vision of the partnership that was set out in our original business case in 2019. It focuses on how we can better support people and the communities they live in, so it is easier for them to manage their own health and wellbeing needs and live happier lives. It sets out, not only what the partnership will do, but also how they will work together to approach outcomes-based commissioning and contracting, wider partnership engagement and enable innovative approaches.
Since 2019, the covid pandemic and cost of living crisis has shone a light on and worsened health inequalities. For the first time in years, the healthy life expectancy rate for women in Walsall, has dropped below that of men. The work of the partnership has never been more important in finding collaborative ways to reduce inequalities and improve outcomes for the people of Walsall.
This way of working requires a transformational style of leadership, and culture that supports change, giving citizens more control and allowing frontline staff the freedom to be innovative and bring the vision and values of the partnership to life. Through the strategy, we aim to be bolder and braver than ever, allowing us to push the boundaries and drive significant and meaningful change.
